This is where our story begins

Two people reflected in the window of Atelier September

How did NakedArt begin?

The idea for Naked Art came to us when we read about an evening in 1958. During dinner at a friend's apartment, Yves Klein covered a model's body in blue paint and made an impression of it on paper laid out on the floor. The first painting of its kind was made at home, not in a gallery.

That moment inspired us to create an experience you can share as a couple. Something sensual, with nothing to do but be close to each other.

We think of our kits as more than a product. They're a ritual of closeness, a way to be present with each other through touch and the simple act of making something together.

It all starts with an idea

Archival photograph of paint and body prints in an artist's studio
Mockup of a blue composition on a sheet clipped to a performance room wall
Archival portrait of a model with body paint beside prints on canvas
Working with paint on a canvas spread across the floor
Archival photograph of a body painting performance before an audience
Mockup of a blue composition on a sheet spread across a gallery floor among painting materials

Now it's time for your story

You've got questions, we've got answers!

Yes! Our paints are dermatologically tested and safe for skin. They contain no harmful chemicals. Just keep in mind, though, that every one of us is different and skin has a mind of its own β€” so before your first painting session we recommend a patch test on a small area of skin, then waiting a little while. The paint manufacturer also advises against using the paints during pregnancy and breastfeeding.
No! The paint comes off skin and hair in the shower without a fight β€” warm water, soap and a washcloth do it. Our little secret for an easy wash-off: pat some moisturizer into your skin before you paint (seriously, that one step makes a huge difference πŸ˜„). Dry skin β€” especially in winter β€” drinks the paint in along with the moisture, while hydrated skin lets it go in seconds. And since everyone's skin is different, it's worth testing the paint on a small patch first. Lotion before, warm water and soap after β€” and in 99% of cases all that's left after the fun is the memories (and a painting on your wall 🎨).
The kit comes with a protective floor sheet β€” spread it out wherever you plan to paint. We also throw in plastic socks, so afterwards you can make it to the shower without leaving a trail of colorful footprints across the whole floor πŸ˜„.
That's entirely up to you β€” keep your underwear on or take everything off, whatever feels better! This is your moment together.
A painting usually dries in 12 to 24 hours, and if the paint went on thick, give it up to 48 hours to cure completely. Keep the canvas flat or on a hanger during that time, away from damp and away from harsh sunlight. A properly dried painting stretches beautifully onto the frame later and stays with you for years 😊 We've put together a frame kit β€” it ships separately, by courier πŸ–ΌοΈFrame kit
We don't recommend a hairdryer β€” it can crack the paint. Better to leave the painting in a well-ventilated room for 24 hours.
Of course! The kit is designed with couples in mind, but nothing is stopping you from making something beautiful on your own.
One step is left: stretching your 160Γ—100 cm canvas onto a frame. Our frame measures 120Γ—90 cm. Choose the part of the painting you want to display and leave about 5 cm of canvas on each side to wrap around the frame. You can take the canvas to an art studio. And if you'd rather not go hunting for one, we've put together a frame kit. It ships separately, by courier πŸ–ΌοΈFrame kit
